I Went To The Doctor, Because I Thought I Felt

I went to the doctor, because I thought I felt a lump in my throat. The doctor did not feel anything abnormal. However, he wants to do a CT scan. I have not symptoms based on what he asked. Does this sound normal to have a CT scan if there are not symptoms and nothing felt?
