If Gentamicin Or Amikacin The Right Medicine For UTI For A One And Half Year Old Child?
i have a one and half year old girld child. she got infected UTI having . After culture and routing urine test, our doctor prescrbed gentamicin 60 mg injection for 7 days. after injection got over, again culture test done and got same report but fever have gone and bacteria present is E.Coli. Now doctor has precribed amikacin 500 mg injection for 4 days. Now we are confused what to do? Please help us.

your Doctor have done Urinalysis and Culture and based on the reports he has prescribed Gentamicin for 7 days and After the treatment of 7 days he again done with culture and urinalysis and might have found that to some extant bacteria causing infection is resistant to Gentamicin so he now prescribed Amikacin injections to completely clear the pathogen , as Amikacin is right drug of choice for uncomplicated UTI resistant to oral Gentamicin
i would advise you to keep the treatment continue until ur baby is completely recovered
