I'm In My Early 40s And Have Children From My

I'm in my early 40s and have children from my previous marriage. My new husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year now. Although I did not take a pregnancy test, I feel as though I've miscarried due to the fleshy material and pain, which I never have. This happened last summer as well. Again, I didn't take a pregnancy test. Should I seek fertility help or continue to try the old fashioned way? Also, what other than my age could be keeping me from maintaining a successful pregnancy?
