In April, He Came To Me Out Of The Blue

In April, he came to me out of the blue asking to be friends with me. I agreed and we clicked automatically. Several weeks later, he told me how he had a crush on me. I was not a huge fan of the idea of us being a thing, so I just kinda left it. Eventually, he asked me to the school dance, I accepted saying I wanted to go as friends. Just a few days after the dance I gave in and agreed to date him. We started dating on May 9th and things were great for a while. He'd call me every night, he'd always want to hang out with me, he couldn't get enough of me. Some people would explain it as clingy. But I liked it. We were so in love all summer long, right until school started again. He was busy with school, sports and marching band, and a similar situation with myself. We rarely talked on the phone, but I would still see him at marching band most nights, and he'd come over my house once a week. During marching band season, I met a girl who developed into being my best friend. Also he got close with her and they were best friends as well. She had been in a relationship just about as long as my boyfriend and I had been in a relationship so I didn't suspect anything. This was also around the time when I found out that he was bipolar, ADHD and OCD. I researched the disorders to make sure I could help him to the best of my ability. But didn't think much of the problem until the beginning of December. When we hit 6 months he was still so in love with me. I gave him a promise ring to show my affection and commitment to him and he loved it. Several weeks later we went black friday shopping together and he was still happy then. The final time he came over my house was about two weeks ago. Everything was fine up until the end when I asked him if he was still happy with me and could promise that we'd stay together. He said he didn't know and that he couldn't promise anything. After I asked him how long he'd been faking everything and he said "I can tell you it's been less then a week". I found that extremely suspicious because I would think it would take longer then that to make up your mind about someone who you'd been dating for almost seven months. And considering how happy he was with me the week before. The conversation basically ended with him that he suddenly did not feel the same about me. After the break I ran off to my room crying and I called my friend. With her being close with my boyfriend too, she had no idea what happened and she didn't see it coming either. Two days later I had to see him because of a Christmas parade we both had to march in. He saw me cry again. And I had heard reports from my friend that he was upset too. But just a few days later I heard that the reason why he broke up with me was because I was “boring” I talked to friends and family about it and they all disagreed. Later that week I decided that I was going to try to get over him, but I heard news from Sarah that he had thoughts of suicide. She called him out on it saying “you gave up your one advocate that did everything for you because she was boring.” he got upset and basically stated that he didn’t like me anymore. When I found about that I immediately called his mom crying and I talked to her about what I had heard from my friend. I also apologized for the relationship not working out. I was very close with my ex’s family and friends, so they still reach out to me periodically. After the phone call, I relaxed a little bit because his mother had said that he would talk to him about what he was feeling and to tell him that it isn’t okay. That whole situation was a major setback. During the weekend, after yet another Christmas parade, I was standing outside with my friends waiting for my parents to come pick me up, my ex was outside with me only sitting a good distance away. I met his gaze and he didn’t look away. I couldn’t read his eyes, but he didn’t look happy. Basically, he acts completely fine when he’s with his friends, but without them you can clearly see that there is still feelings rushing through his head. In the last two weeks I’ve heard so many different scenarios of what people had said, he said about me. One of my friends reported him saying “I’m not going back” and other of his close friends think he will realize what he’s missed and he’ll try to go back. I honestly don’t know what to believe anymore, and if I should even have the hope of him coming back. Yes, I have found things to keep me busy, but he does not leave my mind. My ex is not medicated yet whack makes me believe that he is just going through his manic episode. Please tell me how I should handle things and if theres even a chance he’ll come back.
