i have a bruised rib in the cartlige area, hurts really bad. my dr. gave me am im injection of dexamethasone sodium phosphate ? mg. he also gave me im injection of toradal for pain. i felt alot better for 24 hrs. why was i given the dexamethasone?

Dexamethasone is a steroid which has potent antiinflammatory action. You had bruise over the rib, which produces inflammation, so you were given dexamethasone to reduce this inflammation and by that pain.
