Increased Heartbeat, Dizziness. Is Something Wrong?
Hi I was lying sown went u started to feel my heart beating fast out of nowhere it was just pumping so hard so I attempted to get up and I immediately got dizzy but I was able to grab my blood pressure machine . My blood pressure was 95/64 and heartrate was 121. Is there something wrong? I get dizzy spells a lot and my heart will start to beat rapidly almost like it is beating out of my chest. And then it will just go away in its own leaving me weak.
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, After going through your history it seems that you are having Supra Ventricular Tachycardia intermittently and that is the cause of palpitation and dizziness. Your blood pressure was low and heart rate may be even faster sometimes it can reach 200/minutes. You should urgently consult a Cardiologist and ECG (Electrocardiogram) would be useful test but we may need to investigate by 2 D Echocardiography, Holter Monitor to record and analyze the rhythm disturbance. Treatment depends on cause and advance study EPS (Electrophysiological Study) may be required to diagnose it and treat it with RFA (Radiofrequency Ablation). There are many drugs which can be given to control the heart rate. Hope this helps. Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
