Increased Pulse Rate. Working In Night Shifts. EKG Shows Some Excitability, RSR Prime. What Does This Mean?
I am a 27 yo female who has been having an elevated pulse around 90-100. I am a nurse, I work nights and my MD just told me he thinks I have shift sleep disorder. Additionally, he did an EKG today and told me I have some excitibility and an RSR prime. He did not really explain this very well and told me it was probably nothing to worry about but he did schedule an echo. Can someone please tell me more specifically what this could be and if it is a serious thing to be concerned about?
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
RSR prime is nothing but a rsR pattern in ECG.
There are few causes for RSR pattern in ECG. It is seen in Right bundle branch block and in rare symptom called BRUgada syndrome.
It may also seen as normal variant. Most probably it is normal variant. Do not get worry. Whatever it be, Do the echocardiography and if possible do holter monitor for 24 hours.
As for as you sleep disorder is concerned, take good bed rest , Have healthy diet, exercise regularly. Consult a sleep medicine specialist for further management.
Hope this helps. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
