my 4-month old baby has some discharge from his eye since birth. doctors believe that its a blocked tear duct but when culture was taken it grew pseudomonas aeruginosa. i was prescribed ciprofloxacin for 7 days 1 drop in the affected eye q.i.d. but there is still some watering and discharge. can you give me some advice and some knowledge on what the eye would look like if there is a blocked tear duct

Hi, I think the baby has got bacterial infection in both eyes also bocked tear ducts which are called nasolacrimal ducts. Through those ducts the tears drain into thr nose. I think you should give the baby normal saline soln 0.9% drops to each nosestril three times daily. You can buy that over the counter. Kindest regards Dr.S.K.Mukherjee
