Infant Diagnosed With Asthma And Vitamin D Deficiency. Nebulizing With Asthalin And Budecort. Any Advice?
I HAVE A 15 MONTH SON WHO HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH INFANT ASTHAMA.HE HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED NEBULIZATION WITH BUDECORT AND ASTHALIN.i WANT TO KNOW THE SIDE EFFECT OF THE SAME AND IF THEIR IS AN ALTERNATE MEDICATION.HE ALSO HAS INSUFFICIENT VITAMIN D.SUPPLEMENTS FOR THE SAME HAVE BEEN GIVEN.HIS CURRENT X-RAY SHOWS EVERYTHING IS OK.HIS WEIGHT IS 9 KG.
I trust that the doctor has already explained to you that Budecort is to be used every day, while Asthalin is a use-as-needed inhalation to be given only when he actually has breathing difficulty. It should be stopped once the acute phase is over. Budecort is a second line preventive drug which is recommended in such a small baby only after a failed trial of an oral medicine called montelukast. Has your son already had a trial of this medicine? If not, please speak to your doctor about this.
His weight seems okay for his age (if you are from India, it is fine, and you need not worry.)
