Preterm Baby. Why Has The Stool Become Infrequent With Pain?

Hi.. My baby is a preterm (born at 29 weeks + 3 days). She just shifted out of the NICU now (35 weeks + 2 days). It s been 2 days since that. She was passing stool 3 times day. Last stool passed was on Monday at 3 am. Then she passed very little stool today after exerting and grunting. In the night, she was intermittently crying (as though in pain) during a period of 2 hours. Is she constipated? Can anyone help with a solution?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

The most important thing that you must take care of, that your baby pass stool 3-4 times per day, if not you may give her glycerine supplements, to ease her stool output.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
