Welcome to HCM.
Continue saline nasal drops for nasal congestion.
You have to start chlorphenaramine maleat, phenalaphrine, parcitamol oral drops.
Bronchodilator like salbutamol or terbutalin drops will be helpful.
Antibiotic like amoxy, cepodoxime will require to subside the infection.
In severe case nebuliser treatment is advisable.
Go for cbc,esr and x-ray chest to confirm the diagnosis.
Start treatment under guidance of your pediatrician.

Hi
Thanks for your query.
You have not mentioned age of your baby.
Respiratory symptoms are mostly viral in nature and takes few days to settle.
give steam inhalation, give warm fluids to drink.
Give Benadryl as per dosage.
In case symptoms persist I suggest you to get her evaluated by pediatrician for further management.

Wishing your baby good health.
God bless..

Pediatrician Dr. Emmette Clark's  Response
I assume your child is under 4 years of age and therefore over the counter medications for colds should NOT be given. Saline drops and suctioning are all that is required to keep the nose clear as well as propping up the head of the bed to keep your baby sleeping on a slight incline. A cool mist humidifier is helpful when sleeping as well. If your baby develops fever over 100.5 then she should be examined by her doctor.

Dear Sajia,

Usually, cough and cold mixtures are not advised for children below the age of two. Nor are antibiotics for a viral illness, which is what your baby is suffering from. I would suggest that you continue putting saline drops in both her nostrils and give her paracetamol syrup only, three or four times a day if she does not sleep well or has fever.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Continue to use those normal saline drops. They help to clear the nostril.

Room air humidification may help.

Monitor for danger signs.Monitor for the following in a child with cough.
1.     Rapid breathing.
2.     Chest indrawing while breathing.
3.     Abnormal noise while breathing.
4.     Nasal flaring
5.     Bluish discoloration of fingers (cyanosis)
6.     Irritability or lethargy
If your baby has any of these you should consult your doctor immediately

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

Hi,
It seems that baby is having acute allergic rhinitis with lower respiratory tract infection.
Give her antihistamine, decongestant syrup, three times a day.
Consult your doctor and if he thinks proper, one antibiotic medicine may be given.
Ok and take care.
