Infant With Recurring High Fever. No Help From Any Medications. Any Ideas?

Hi, my 9.5 month old baby has developed fever since last 2 days. Doctor says that it is because of some throat infection and hence has recommended one 5 ml dose of azibact and doses of babygesic every 5-6hrs. We have been giving the baby said dose but the fever keeps coming after few hours in the range of 99-100.5 and falls back after the dose of babygesic is given. Fever had reached 101 yesterday so we started with ibugesic post which it had again normalised but yesterday night it came back to 102 levels but then again came down after dose of medicine was given. It's been two days the fever has been coming and has hit 102 last night. We have visited the doc today for a check and he has recommended meftal P every 6-7 hrs. We gave him one dose of Meftal P in afternoon and the fever was under control for few hours but after 6 hrs it again reached 102. We have again given meftal now which has got the fever under control but he also did a big vomiting while having dinner now. We are a bit worried as in why despite stronger medicines the fever is coming back to 102 levels. Please do let us know what is to be done .Looking forward to your suggestions and thanks in advance.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

Since your baby is having some danger signs like vomiting along with fever I suggest you to go back and get your kid examined by a paediatrician. Fever in that age group should be taken seriously. Your baby may require investigations like blood counts, CRP etc as prescribed by your doctor after complete physical examination.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
