I have had, i guess you call it an infection, on the roof of my mouth. I get this every once in a while but this time is different. It is swollen a bit around my front tooth on my left. However it is sore all the way back to my soft pallet. I get a incredible headache when i eat. What could this be?( i have had my bottom two wisdom teeth out but still have the top two)

hello and welcome to hcm forum ks05218,
i would be glad to answer your query,
the dental history presented by you states that a dental abscess is associated with your upper tooth, in order to confirm the tooth, we need to check your oral cavity clinically,
presence of an abscess causes pain, swelling and difficulty on chewing food.
i assume you have all these symptoms besides sore soft palate, pain may also radiate to the temple,
therefore i would advise you to visit your dentist,
he/she will rule out the cause and lay a treatment plan for you, do not delay your appointment as tooth infection may spread to the surrounding tissues as well.
kindly avoid hot and spicy food, do not apply hot compresses over the swelling,
i hope i answered your query,
i wish you good health,
take care.

hello and welcome,
have your left front tooth decayed or associated with abscess?
visit your dentist and get your tooth checked.get an x-ray to rule out underlying pathoses.
there is a chance of periapical/periodontal abscess underlying the tooth which results in swollen and sore soft palate.
get you teeth cleaned to remove the plaque and calculus deposition.
abscess if present, has to be drained and curetted.if there is decay and involved periapical area also, root canal treatment has to be done.take tha complete course of antibiotics.
regards

Hello and thank you for your question.
It sounds like you have a nasopalantine duct cyst that keeps fluctuating. Best bet is go to a dentist, have your mouth examined, get some radiographs and state your concerns with them. I cannot give you a diagnosis without proper examination but it sounds like the description of the cyst mentioned above. These can be treated through surgical procedures.

Best wishes and good health

Hello & welcome,

Your symptoms of swelling on palatal side of upper anterior tooth ( incisor ) shows the presence of underlying abscess or pus formation around the tooth.

This can occur more likely due to deep caries in the tooth which has propagated through dentine & reached the live pulp tissue of the tooth thus infecting it.

Another possibility is just a Gum infection or periodontal infection which is deep seated in below cervical line of the tooth or this may be due to trauma to periodontium or the tooth itself.

First of all, get an x-ray taken by visiting your dentist to evaluate the presence of caries & abscess or the periodontal condition of the tooth.

Root canal treatment will be best if there is abscess due to caries followed by ceramic crown placement. If the fault is within the periodontium or Gingival infection, then Scaling & root planing will suffice.

Antibiotics are definitely required to get rid of infection & will be given to you by your dentist.
Avoid hot food stuff intake or hot drinks like Tea & coffee until swelling subsides completely.
Keep your oral cavity clean by properly brushing your teeth regularly.

Take care.
