Ovarian cysts do not cause a feeling that you are in a fog and the feeling of being exhausted and overwhelmed. Certainly one-sided pelvic pain and bloating can because by an ovarian cysts.
I think that there is more than one problem going on. The best suppression for ovarian cysts is to suppress ovulation. This can be done by a monophasic birth control pill with at least 35 µg of estrogen or buy a Depo-Provera shot which is used four times a year. If you do not want to take the medication systemically there is also a progesterone IUD called Mirena that will also effectively suppress ovulation and in many women over time produced very light or nonexistent menses.
Unfortunately the feeling of exhaustion and being overwhelmed is a little more complex. Is there any history of depression? Is this a feeling that you've experienced before the perhaps not quite as intently? It is possible it may be worse before your menstruation because the female hormones support neurochemicals that stabilize mood. In order to have a menstruation those hormones drop and so do the neurochemicals. That is why many women describe feeling overwhelmed irritable or fatigued right before they menstruate and better a few days later as hormones a tart to rise again. severe PMS Karen premenstrual syndrome) is called premenstrual dysphoric disorder. The treatment for these are the same as a treatment for depression. I believe if you feel overwhelmed and exhausted It may be time to consider antidepressant medication. There is no reason for you to continue to feel this way. There is help out there. The emergency room however is not the best place to get that help. I would suggest seeing a good family practice physician with an interest and experience in women's health care to get you on the right path. You may need to see specialists but it is always is good to have a generalist organizing things. I hope you feel better soon. I'm sorry you're having these problems.
