Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

If there is excessive swelling of ankle with continuous moderate to severe pain then you should consult to ER & have a x ray done.It is impossible to say only on complaints or clinical examination about the presence of absence of a minor fracture in bones of children.

Till then you should apply a soft ace bandage over her foot to mid leg.Give her a mild analgesic like paracetamol.
Do cold fomentation with help of ice cube wrapped in a pack.
Keep her limb elevated on pillow.

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.
