Inner Ear Pain, Grinding Teeth In Sleep. Related Symptoms?

I am 28, male. Every so often, I wake up in the middle of the night with what feels like inner ear pain. I dought it is any kind of infection, as nothing looks out of the ordinary. However, I do grind my teeth every so often at night. What is the cause of teeth grinding in my sleep. Also, what could cause the inner ear pain when that occurs? I once thought maybe it could be that I was sleeping directly on my ear or something, but now think maybe it can relate to the teeth grinding. Wanted to get others thoughts on this..

Hello mitchell.ellis83. Welcome to healthcaremagic.com.

Teeth grinding at night is usually caused by stress and anxiety. Prolonged tooth grinding can cause issues with chewing food due to tooth misalignment, ear pain, jaw problems, tooth decay, and other issues. There are many tooth guards that can be bought over the counter or from a dental professional. Anxiety medications can also help stop tooth grinding as well if these are needed. I would advise discussing with your physician.

Be well, Dr. Kimberly
