Intermittent Pain In Mid Upper Back, Knot In Area Of Pain, Overweight. Recommendations?
I am a 55 year old female having intermittent pain that presents itself slightly right of my mid- upper back (bra line). The pain is on and off and can be only soreness to debilitating. The pain feels deep but I can feel a knot in the area of pain in my back .I was a heavy smoker for 20 years but I did quit over 20 years ago. I do have shortness of breath after climbing 2 flights of stairs. I am about 25 pounds over weight but I am healthy other wiser. I have been having this intermittent pain for almost a year. Thank you for your help.
Pain that is present on the side of mid back region that waxes and wanes is usually muscular in nature. It wold be helpful to know more about the knot-when did it occur, is it growing in size, is the knot painful or is the pain generalized in that area and is there anything particular that pain responds to. If the knot is persistent for a year it would be advisable to see a doctor for examination.
Wish you the best.
