Irregular Periods, Having PCOD. Prescribed Chrominac, Not Helping. Suggestions?
my wife has been having irregular periods (her period is not stopping for over 13 days now). She had PCOD 1.5 yrs back and in her last USG (3 months back), she was found to have few tiny cysts (0.3 to 0.5 cm in diameter) in both ovaries. Endometrial thickness = 5 mm. She has been taking CHROMINAC A for the past 2 months but still she is having this super extended cycle this time. We are really worried. Please advise what to do now and whether this might have any effect on her conceiving in the future.
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. Chrominac A is used to treat cases of PCOD with problems in the insulin hormone. There is no mention of a hormonal test in your question. If you have not done a hormone testing get it done between day 3-5 of the next menses counting from day 1 of bleeding. Further treatment must be according to the hormone results.
If you are not using contraception, do a pregnancy test to look for pregnancy as this may be an abortion. If it is negative, use drugs like tranexamic acid twice or thrice daily taken with milk usually control the bleeding in 1-2 days.
Thanks and have a good day.
