Irregularities In Lab Report. History Of Bipolar Disorder. What Do The Findings Indicate?

Adult son has mildly increased creatinine 1.8, normal bun, increased ca 10.8, increased tp 8.8 increased alb 5.5. He has bipolar disorder and a host of other complicated issues. Results reflect only dehydration or early stage of kidney/liver disease or any number of illnessess. I suggested he speak with doctor and be retested. All other blood chemistries were normal.

Nephrologist 's  Response
HI
Thanks for your query.
From the reports it is clear that your son has a kidney problem. The cause of this problem and its reversibility can be determined after a detailed physical examination and further testing.
Long term use of lithium is known to cause renal dysfunction.
So I would recommend that you see a nephrologist ASAP.
Hope this helps
Good luck
