My mother is 60 years old. She has been diagnosed with autoimmune liver cirrhosis since 2 years. her previous ANA value was 1:320 in the year 2013 And her recent value is 1:1280. What should we do to reduce these ANA levels? How serious is this? Is this life threatening for her? kindly help me..

1. ANA [anti nuclear antibody] is done to see whether there is an autoimmune attack going inside the body where the antibodies are attacking a protein in the nucleus and most important cause of positive ANA is SLE [systemic lupus erythematous] but there are certain other rheumatic conditions where one may find positive ANA [check with a rheumatologist] thus one has to exclude them also before starting for any treatment, these are:

. Rheumatoid Arthritis
. Systemic Sclerosis [Scleroderma]
. Mixed Connective Disease [MCD}

. High values are considered as ongoing active infection inside the bodies thus have a Rheumatologist examination and initially steroids are often used to suppress the body's immune system thus go for prednisolone, hydrocortisone.
