Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Prempro .3/1.5 for years however my insurance co will no longer cover this medication. The main reason for taking it at this point in my life (I am 67) is because it helps with vaginal dryness. My ins. co suggestd changing to Activella but it is so high in estrogen I am a little hesitant. Will this medication at its lowest dosage help my problem or do you recommend something else?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Activella contains estradiol and norethindrone as its composition. It is a combination of estrogen and progestin hormones. It is indicated to be used by women to help reduce symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and dryness, itching or burning in or around vagina. The dosage of this medication can be adjusted based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Kindly consult Gynecologist for proper evaluation and administration of appropriate dosage. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
