Is Adipex Advisable For Weight Loss?

Hello - went to medical weight loss clinic, had EKG done before beginning treatment, which indicated septal MI, I have not had normal symptoms associated with MI, last EKG I had approx, one year ago normal. The nurse practioner at this particular place discussed the EKG, told me to follow up with primary, however, continued to prescribe adipex for weight loss, is this contraindicated in this situation? Hi,

Adipex is an amphetamine-like prescription medication used to suppress appetite. It can help weight loss by decreasing your hunger or making you feel full longer.

This medication may raise your blood pressure and it is usually contraindicated in heart diseases.

So please check with your primary care physician or, if possible, a cardiologist if you want to continue with Adipex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
