Anti worms medicines (antihemintics) are used in treating worm infestations in humans. Most commonly drugs prescribed belong to class Benzimidazoles:
The drugs Albendazole belongs to this class and is effective against threadworms, roundworms, whipworms, tapeworms, hookworms. In some situations, these worms develop resistance to treatment with Albendazole and these patients do not respond to treatment. This is due to genetic alterations in the worm and hence the worm is not affected by the medicine.
Under medical supervision, you could be prescribed Mebendazole which is as effective against pinworms, roundworms and hookworms.
There are other class of medicines also available to treat intestinal worms.
Hope this helps.
