Is Altavera The Cause For Recurring Swelling In Lips?

My teenage daughter awoke this morning with swollen lips. The same thing happened approximately a month ago, only it was mainly her bottom lip at that time and not as severe? Is it possible this is being caused by the Altavera which she takes to regulate her periods.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Altavera is a hormone replacement therapy and if it would be a cause of the swelling it would continue till you take the medicine..
But it s for sure that swollen lips also known as Allergic Angioedema seems to be due to allergic reaction to some food or medicine or any other allergens..
So I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Blood test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra..
You can also be advised a shot steroid course..
Do cool compresses over the lips..
An Immunotherapy can also be instilled to reduce the severity of allergic reaction..
