I have insomnia and was prescribed Ambien 2 years ago. It worked great until the past few months when I started sleep walking. My doctor has since put me on 2 mg of Klonopin but that is not helping. She also believes I have PTSD stemming from a near fatal car accident two years ago. I have no insurance and the moment and was wondering if you could offer any suggestions when I go to a new doctor on Wednesday.
Until I know ambien is zolpidem and klonopin is clonazepam. Both used to treat insomnia.I don't think so both of these can cause sleep waling. You described that you are suffering from PTSD. For PTSD these drugs is the helpful in the way by reducing symptoms only , not treating basic pathology behind the disorder. I suggest SSRIs will be surely helpful . You can discuss with your next doctor with that. Your sleepwalking may be part of your PTSD, as in PTSD there are vivid dreams which may induce sleep walking. For exact correlation your past history should be evaluated. If your PTSD is going to be treated well, your sleep walking may stop.
