Is Ambien The Right Medicine For Anxiety?

I have anxiety. Do not want to leave house to go to paychiatrist ! I always feel like I can t do anything. I have two kids that I am worried about. I have to take ambien daily , can t sleep without the . Afraid that the pills are harming me, and what will happen to my kids

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Ambien contains 'zolpidem', which is a sedative. It is used to treat sleep problems (insomnia) in adults. Although it decreases certain amount of stress, it is not a primary medication advised to treat anxiety disorders.
In case you need to treated specifically for anxiety, it would be better to take Alprazolam, which is a short-acting anxiolytic, and also, a mild sedative.
It is advisable for you to consult Psychiatrist or Physician for evaluation and proper prescription of the medication.
