Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on a new blood pressure medication for about 6 weeks. It is amlodopine . Once, some years back I had a persistent cough that was finally DX d as an ace cough and shortly after I was placed on a non-ace inhibitor med, the cough ceased. I have this very same cough again. Is amlodopine an ace inhibitor ?
It also help to dilate the blood vessels in heart and whole of body..
Cough is a common side effect of Amlodipine.
I would suggest you to see your doctor again and tell him about the problem so that he can provide you with a better option to relieve your discomfort.
Hope your query is solved..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.

Is Amlodopine An Ace Inhibitor?
Hi.. Thanks for your query.. As per your query Amlodipine is not an ace inhibitor but it is a CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKER used to lower high blood pressure by blocking entry of calcium into the walls of arteries.. It also help to dilate the blood vessels in heart and whole of body.. Cough is a common side effect of Amlodipine. I would suggest you to see your doctor again and tell him about the problem so that he can provide you with a better option to relieve your discomfort. Hope your query is solved..
