Is Androgel Advisable For Hormone Replacement Therapy?

I am a 47 year old male and my bloodwork came back with low free and total testosterone levels; 111 and 4.3 respectively. It is not the first time. Blood work from two years ago also showed both low, but don t recall what they were, and didn t have insurance at the time to go see an endocrinologist per my general practitioner s recommendations. He cannot see me about this latest test result for 7 more weeks, and then probably several more weeks before I can get into see an endocrinologist, as I suspect he will again recommend. Am interested in getting some Androgel for HRT, if it is advisable. I take no other medications at this time. I travel for a living. Would Androgel be the most immediate and convenient therapy, given my limited consistent access to doctor s offices?

Hi,

Androgel contains testosterone which is used for hormone replacement men who are not able to produce enough testosterone like hypogonadism. This medication is absorbed through the skin, enters the bloodstream and helps your body reach normal testosterone levels. Its effects on quality of life manifest within 3-4 weeks but maximum benefits take longer. Changes in erections or ejaculations may need up to 6 months. The effects on a depressive mood become detectable after 3-6 weeks with a maximum of after 18 to 30 weeks. Androgel is a prescription medication that is used to treat men having low testosterone or no testosterone. Test your blood before you start and while you are using Androgel according to your doctor's advice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
