Is Azithromycin Advisable For Upper Respiratory Infection In A Child?
Hi, My 3 yr old son has cough and runny nose. His temperature increases in the evening to 100.5 for last 2 evenings and after giving Tylenol, it s fine. Doctor says he has upper respiratory infection and has prescribed azithromicine for 5 days. First day 4 ml and remaining 4 days 2 ml. Is this medicine safe and is it needed for him?
Azithromycin is commonly prescribed to treat susceptible upper respiratory tract infection in children. It is found to be safe during childhood hence can be given to your son as prescribed by his doctor. Generally it is safe however it may cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps, vomiting and headache in some patients.
Hope this answers your query.
A feed back is appreciated.
