Is Bactrim The Right Medication For Swollen, Red And Painful Pilonidal Cyst?

Good morning, I have a pilonidal cyst. However there is no pimple sac or bump only swelling, redness, and extreme pain. My meds have been changed to Bactrim. How effective is this medication for the cyst and will I need surgery even though there isn t a visible sac? Your response is greatly appreciated!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may not be at the stage where it is ready to be incised. It may revolve to this point.

When it changes further so that there is an obvious punctum (distinct point or head), then incision may be done, this would be the definitive treatment.
The antibiotics prescribed should help as well.

I hope this helps
