Is C Section The Only Solution For Unilateral Diastolic Notching?
My baby's weight at 35th week was 1.97kg... Since Baby's weight was less, Doctor advised to take a doppler scan... and in doppler scan report, it showed diastolic notching at left uterine artery... Doctor said it is symptom of IUGR and mostly C section should be done in advance... please answer if C section is the only way for unilateral diastolic notching? thanks in advance for ur answer...
Hi, Thanks for the query. Unilateral diastolic notching is indicating decreased placental perfusion and deficiency of nutritional supply to the fetus. Intra uterine growth retardation may be because of that. So, if there is possibility of further growth retardation, early delivery may be needed. In that case: - After induction the process of labor and delivery may get delayed due to preterm. - Preterm and growth retarded baby may not withstand the stress of vaginal delivery. -Fetal asphyxia may be possible due to decreased placental perfusion. So, may be because of above factors, your doctor might have suggested cesarean section. But actually the mode of delivery can be decided at the onset of labor or when the baby to be delivered. Take care.
