Is Dipsalic F Application Safe For Treatment Of Dry Eczema?
Hello! I have dry eczema (from birth) which over the period of time (am 35 years now) mainly has affected my hands/ fingers and 1/2 spots around neck. Around 5 years back, a dermatologist had suggested use of DIPSALIC F ointment in the affected areas. Thereafter, have been using it when the skin gets itchy/ white (usually gets worse in winters or if exposed to soaps/ dirt). Please inform if I should continue using it on as and when required basis. Not sure if this being a steroid, is harmful in long run. Please suggest.
You can apply ointment Dipsalic F prescribed by your treating dermatologist on the areas affected when required. Don't apply ointment for prolonged periods of time. Use only as per the recommended dose to avoid skin peeling and skin thinning. You are suggested to to keep the eczema on the affected parts clean and moist.
Avoid exposure to dust, animal dander, smoke, paint and anything that may trigger it. Be cautious of what food you take. Avoid taking food that trigger the symptoms of eczema. It is difficult to treat eczema but can be kept under control by symptomatic treatment and diet control. Light therapy and wet dressing are helpful.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
