It is used to treat several conditions that are the result of a lack of progesterone including menstrual disorders like, secondary amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea (painful periods), premenstrual syndrome and abnormal uterine bleeding. Since PCOS is associated with hormonal imbalance leading to irregular menstrual cycles, this medication can be used to correct the imbalance and regularize the cycles.
