Is Ecosprin And Heparin Injections Safe During Pregnancy, Have Suffered A Pregnancy Loss Due To Restricted Blood To Foetus?
Hi Doc,
I had a failed pregnancy last year. I had a C-section and my 2 days old son died due to low weight (640gm).there was restriction in the blood flow. I am a hypothyroid patent. also during my pregnancy I was close to develop gestational diabetes. my blood pressure was also high during 5th month. now I am 2month pregnant after 1yr gap.
Doctor has advised me to take Ecosprin 75mg 3months in advance before pregnancy and continue . also I have been advise to take heparin 4000 IU injection daily( I am taking it in my inner thee, pls advice if its ok) . want to know side effects of all these medication and when to stop taking. will I again have C-section.

Firstly, the history of low birth weight and previous baby 's demise.
Next the recurrence risk of gestational diabetes and gestational hypertension.
Also, hypothyroidism itself.
With a previous C section, you CAN take the risk of a trial of labour, but most doctors will advise repeat C section, as you have already lost your baby previously.
Yes, Ecosprin should definitely be taken and continued till 36 weeks.
Heparin too should be taken by you.
Both of these help to increase blood flow to the baby, and reduce risk of developing hypertension.
Heparin can be taken in the outer thigh, the arm and in the subcutaneous fat of the tummy.
There are no major side effects compared to the benefits.
You can take them till 36 weeks of pregnancy.

Both Ecosprin and heparin are safe in pregnancy. Side effect of heparin is slightly more chance of bleeding and weakening of bone while ecosprin can cause gastritis and slight chnace of bleeding
