Hello doctor, My father who is 61 yrs old went through a general health checkup in apollo hyderabad.he is diabetic and high bp problem.he underwent tmt in which doctor sd its strong positive and has to go through engeo. Asap.after that he went to escorts where in the tmt says borderline but based on the earlier tmt was advised to go through engeo. Its the fourth time he underwent tmt but nowhere there were results which says that engeo is required. Still docs are insisting to go through engeo based on 1st tmt.what will you suggest.we are basically from lucknow only. Please advice as we are really confused. If there is genuine problrm he is ready fr it. Thanks Priyanka srivastava 0000
Hi priyanka, This is a common dilemma for many. A repeat test may not simulate the earlier test, especially related to cardiac disease. A single negative TMT may not rule out a cardiac disease but a single positive test most likely is due to some underlying cardiac disease. I feel that he needs angiogram as it is a simple test that solves your problem. if you go for another 10 TMT tests, you would be more confused. ultimately, what we need is a diagnosis; and it is possible only with angio. so, please go ahead, there is no reason to take chance. All the best.
