Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Estrogen Supplement Advisable While Having Cancer Cells In The Cervix?
I have had left leg pain for years no one can find out why, I just went to OBGYN and she told me it could be because of menopause and i need estrogen . what do you think and I am worried about taking estrogen because I have cancer cells in my cervix they are going to try freezing
Estrogen is thought to affect the cervical cancer and cause it to get worse so I understand your concern with the use of estrogens while having cervical cancer. I would recommend you to talk with your doctor and discuss the risks the estrogens have in the cervical cancer and try to find a solution that is going to be acceptable and safe even though you have cervical cancer. On the other hand there are other measures that may help with the menopausal symptoms depending on the symptoms you have. I would also recommend you to have a TSH done to rule out thyroid problems because thyroid problems are very common in menopausal women and its symptoms can be confused with menopausal symptoms or can make them worse.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
