Is Fluoxetine HCL A Good Alternative Of Prozac?
I have been taking Prozac for at least 30 years. My meds have always been capsules with 2 colors. Now I ve received a prescription that is a blue color and called fluoxetine hcl 40 mg capsule . Taking this capsule seems to be causing me to become nauseous, so I didn t take it this morning. While taking a nap, I had real bad dreams that woke me up. Can you tell me if this capsule is a Prozac tablet

Fluoxetine and Prozac are the same things. Fluoxetine is the actual name of the drug, Prozac is the brand name given by the original company who produced it. Since now there are many companies producing it you may find fluoxetine under other brand names or simply labeled as fluoxetine as in this case.
These generic alternatives should pass quality tests and guarantee the same quality as the original brand, Prozac in this case, so at least in theory there shouldn't be any difference, perhaps what you experience is psychological. Still, it happens that patients report differences with the original brand in everyday life. So I would give it some more time, but if symptoms persist I would discuss with your doctor switching to original Prozac.
