Hi dr my son was just diagnose today with Graves disease he is so weak. my question is will he ever get better.will he ever be able to resume a normal life style? He has a very stressful job,and when he gets home he has four kids that needs daddies attention. Am worried sick about my only son.
Hi, Thanks for writing to HCM. Graves disease is caused due to increased secretion of thyroid hormones called 'Hyperthyroidism'. He need not be so stressed about this disorder. Although this disease is not completely curable, it can be controlled if doctor's instructions are followed strictly. He can always lead a normal life with little care for his thyroid. Only thing us regular check up of thyroid status clinically and investigations like thyroid profile is necessary for follow up. Hope he gets back to normal routine soon. All the best.
