Is Insulin Advisable For Elevated Sugar Levels?

I was without my metformin for about 2 weeks I didn t have a chance to see my doctor. I was drinking orange juice with beats and carrots. The day before my visit, (after my dinner) my blood sugar level was at 567 the next morning I tested my sugar level in the again and it was at 265 could this mean that I can be in diabetic coma or have to use insulin? As soon as I saw my doctor he gave me the mesds and I took them immediately. Now I m very worry. I understand it was my negligence not going to the Dr for more meds? Situations held me back. I now understand the danger. What diet do you recommend? What should I eliminate completely? I apologize for so many questions but this is worrysome. Thanks

Hi you do not have to apologize. It's my pleasure to help in any small way that I can. Firstly not all persons with diabetes need insulin. And it's very important to keep your sugars in good control in order to lead a reasonably comfortable life in spite of having diabetes. So please do not neglect your medicines. You are lucky that inspire of having such high sugars nothing happened to you. But do not push your luck. Be wise. Take care :)
