Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Father is 96 with stable angina controlled with ntg He take renexa daily but has been prescribed Isordil because of an angina attack that did not resolve with two ntg tabs. Is it safe for him to take Isordil with the renexa because of bp effects. Current is 140/70 with pulse at 65 due to pacemaker setting?
Ranexa is composed of 'Ranolazine', which is a drug used to treat angina. Isordil is composed of 'Isosorbide dinitrate', which is a medication used for heart failure.
It dilates (widens) blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through them and easier for the heart to pump.
There were no interactions found to exist between Isordil and Ranexa. However, it does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist.
They can be taken together if the doctor feels its necessary, under medical supervision.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
