Is Knee Replacement The Only Option For Severe Knee Pain?

I am a 35 year old male with a high level of pain in my right knee. I have one meniscus tear repair 20 years ago, and an ACL repair 12 years ago. When I first spoke to the last doctor, he was confident that he would be able to help me. At the end of the surgery, he said "what we did was, we made a bad knee better" I know I will one day be a candidate for knee replacement, it snaps, crackles, pops and hurts every day. What I would like to do is find a pain management system that can help me postpone the knee replacement and at the same time, bring relief to my current state.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
Since u r only 35 yrs old i suggest that u postpone the joint replacement surgery. Try with
a) Quadriceps exercises ( static and dynamic )
b) Hot water fomentation
c) strictly avoiding sitting crossed legged / squatting

This wil help u to reduce pain to some extent and postpone replacement.
If this does not help (i.e.if your osteoarthritis is very bad ) , then u can still postpone the surgery by taking AN INTRAARTICULAR STEROID which make u feel better.

Finally , the last option remains JOINT REPLACEMENT SURGERY.
I find this answer helpful
