Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Levothyroxine 50 mcg tabs - 1 daily, but today my doctor told me she was going to up the dosage. Her new prescription called for Levothyroxine Sodium 50 mcg tablets - 1 daily. Isn t this the same or does the sodium make a difference?
Both levothyroxine and levothyroxine sodium are one and the same. There is no difference and addition of sodium doesn't make it any different. Your doctor might have not increased the dose yet.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
