Is Lisinopril The Right Medication For Elevated BP Levels?
i have high blood pressure 160 over 90 ish , 71 years old. no water retantion, on 40 mgs of lisinopril a day, now prescribed lisinopril hctz 20/12 in morning and 20 mgs reg at night. should i take water pills when i don t retain water? also i all ready am thirsty alot and drink water and pee alot without the hctz. thanks
HCTZ does not have any diuretic effects. It is used in hipertension more for it's vasodilatator effects. So if you have high blood pressure you should use it, 12 or 25 mg a day. For your thirst, I suggest you do some blood tests to exclude possible diabetes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
