Is Lyrica, A Recommended Drug For Hip Labral Tear In Woman?
My wife has been suffering with severe leg and hip pain for several years now. She has Labral tear in the left hip. She takes Tramadol for the pain several times a day. Her doctor doesn t think she has fibromyalgia, but I think she should try Lyrica. What do you think? Her age is 55. She has been healthy until the past several years.
Lyrica is not recommended for hip labral tear. Lyrica is basically an anti-epileptic drug also found to be useful in the treatment of fibromyalgia or certain painful nerve conditions such as diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, or spinal cord injury. For the treatment of labral tear, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen or etodolac. Pain can also be controlled temporarily with an injection of steroids into the joint.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
