Is Metformin HCL Equivalent To Normal Metformin Medicine?
Hi - I just got a refill of my Metformin and this pill looks different from the one I had previously. I know there s many mgf. of metformin but I can t find this one: The mfg is TEVA and the name of the med. is METFORMIN HCL - which I can t seem to locate either. Is this the same as the other Metformin I was taking?
As you stated, it is not the exact same as the medication that you took previously because the manufacturer is different but it would be essentially the same drug.
There may be slight differences in the inactive ingredients present but the mechanism of action, indications, dosing should be similar. There can be slight differences in side effect profile in some cases but you have any problems, you can speak to your pharmacist or doctor.
I hope this helps
