Is Methylprednisone Recommended For Transverse Myelitis?

Dear Sir,

My wife has been suffering from Transverse myelitis since May,2010. She is copletely bedridden. and not able to stand up and walk.She is able to move only in a wheel chair. She has been given five five doses of Methyleprednisone(IV) and also Oral medication(prednisone) for a month in May,2010. She improved for sometime and again attacked by TM in JULY,2010 and January,2011. In January,2011 she was also given IVIG treatment for five days apart from coticosteroid injections through IV for five days.Though there is a little improvement in her body,still she is not able to stand up and walk. There is some improvement in her bladder sensation and and also sensation in the legs. At present she is on oral steroid tratment.for the last one month(Deflazocort 50 mg per day).Please let me know how much time it takes further for her getting up and walk slowly. S.Satish Babu
