Mexate Tablet contains 'Methotrexate' as an active ingredient.
Classification: It is an 'Antimetabolite'. It competes with folic acid uptake in cells, thus altering
DNA replication and cell division. It causes stopping the growth of cells in tumors and decreasing the activity of the immune system.
Possible Side Effects of Methotrexate include: Nausea and/or Vomiting, Diarrhea, Mouth Ulcers, Low
White Blood Cell Count, Low Red Blood Cell Count, Low
Platelet Count, Fatigue, Loss or Thinning of Scalp and Body Hair and Sensitivity to light.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Mexate is a contraindication. In addition, it should not be taken if the following conditions are present:
1. Alcoholic liver disease
2. Blood disorders
3. Neoplastic diseases
4. Pregnant women

Thrombocytopenia Uses: Mexate Tablet is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:
(a) Rheumatoid arthritis
(b) Cancers of breast
(c) Skin cancer
(d) Head and neck cancer
(e) Lung cancer
(f) Psoriasis.
Dosage: Depends on the underlying condition which is being treated. Usual dose is 10mg administered everyday or once a week.
