Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Do I need to be treated for black stools caused by morphine? I went to the Emergency Clinic on a Friday because of intense pain brought on by Kidney stone. Past two days I have been having black stools. With all the Internet Knowlege on morphine i assessed that the black stools were caused by the morphine they gave me for the pain.
Morphine may cause constipation or hard stools or black stools. Also, check for other possibilities like Upper GI bleed or peptic ulcer disease or iron or bismuth contain tablet consumption etc.
So please consult your physician he will examine and identify the right cause and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
