Is Neosporin Effective In Treatment Of Eye Infection In An Infant?
My 9 day old health pre-term infant woke up this morning with what appears to be an eye infection in her left eye. Yellow discharge and eyelashes stuck together. We have been wiping away the discharge with warm sterile towels and the condition looks as though it may be improving. My question is would it be advisable to put neosporin in the area around her eye to sooth it, keep crust from forming and to fight the infection?

I really appreciate your concern looking to the history given here in my opinion it would be better to see the ophthalmologist because of the age of the child in such case the clinical examination is must and using any eye preparation without the clinical examination is not advisable, take care and have a nice day.
