Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The pediatric prescribed Omnicef & Fenistil to my 3 month old baby... Is it ok to give them to him? I noticed that he pees in a less amount... e.g when he woke up today, nothing was in his diaper and he slept for almost 8 hours. He has taken 2 dose of Omnicef & 2 dose of Fenistil
Your baby of 3 months is peeing in a less amount. To determine if he has urinary tract infection (UTI), urine analysis and urine culture is recommended, plus abdominal ultrasound to evaluate his uro-genital tract for possible abnormalities.
Omnicef is an antibiotic and should be given only when lab tests are confirming UTI.
Fenistil is an anti-histaminic medication used to treat possible allergy or pruritic conditions including eczema.
Both these medications should be given by doctor's prescription and after confirming respective diagnosis. I do not agree with you giving your baby unless confirmed by his pediatrician.
Make sure he is feeding milk well and note if he has vomiting or diarrhea.
Hope this answers your queries. Dr.Albana
